Finally Summer has arrived…Thank god! We can now start shopping for our favourite florals, distressed denims and wear Tee’s & jeans teamed with cute mules. Less is totally more! YAY for exposed feet but pedicures are essential! For this S/S the High Street is jammed with floral prints (OBVIOUSLY… it is the biggest Summer trend repeat offender I know but it’s classic and we love it), light denims, pastels, lots of red, polka dots, mules and loafers… most noticeably this season Gucci Dupes. YESSSS thank you High Street! Shout out to Zara, Mango and Topshop. ♥
Try to incorporate basics that you can mix & match and will bring you from day into night. Think cost per wear. Smart buys are the key! Will I wear that dress in the day, to work and a Summer Barbecue? Do I have shoes and trousers to match that print top? Am I comfortable? Ask yourself the basic questions. If you don’t love it then in the changing room SORRY but you never will!
Summer is one of the best times of year (beers in the garden are acceptable again√). Try go for bright colours and steer away from the dark ones. Get dressed up you’ll feel good for it. Wear the dress you bought, wear the skirt you’d usually only whip out on holiday’s there is no such thing as too dressy. “It’s better to be overdressed than underdressed” as they say!
I picked some of my favourite pieces on the High Street RN! Can’t wait for these brighter days ahead. Click the photo to shop or hover the picture for retailers! Enjoy ladies! I’m off to try find a cute outfit for Craig David tonight as I’m about to relive my early naughties all over again!!!
Gingham: “Lightweight plain woven cotton cloth, typically checked in white and bold colour”
If you had said Gingham to me a couple of years ago a flood of nostalgic memories from the nineties such as Home & Away and outdoor Summer picnics would have been what sprung to mind! Admittedly I have fast become a Gingham super fan! In my opinion Miu Miu is doing it best right now but I can’t afford anything from my beloved Italian brand and subsidiary of Prada. BUT that’s okay because thankfully the High Street is always to the rescue for those of us who don’t have thousands of euros to spend.
Gingham is shaping up to be one of the biggest trends of 2017 thus far and it’s really not school girl reminiscent this time! First we saw Gingham modernised on the catwalk in 2015 for S/S from designers such as Oscar Del Renta and Diane Von Furstenberg. The clothes were mostly demure long figure hugging skirts and cropped blazer jackets in Spring pastels. Fast forward to 2017 as we approach Spring again and designers such as Marques Almeida, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, Maje and high street retailers such as Zara and Topshop are giving us Gingham with checkers in blue, red, yellow, pink and best of all the classic monochrome. Gingham has been even further modernised by designers presenting in various divine styles such as bell sleeves, mini’s, voluminous bows and off the shoulder ruffled silhouettes!
Celebrities and bloggers have demonstrated the look both casually and formally inspiring us the likes of Sienna Miller and Kendall Jenner. Gingham is easily accessorised and looks great teamed with some fabulous statement earrings, a simple bag and some chic footwear. For that “Off duty look” team a black and white Gingham top with ripped or frayed straight leg black jeans and add a pop of red with an accessory. Dark blue or navy denim look best teamed with red, blue or yellow Gingham as it compliments the primary palette. Whatever way you decided to wear you’re Gingham print make sure there’s a place for it in you’re SS17 wardrobe!
